Chardome was founded in 2016 by French brothers Valentin and Jonathan.
"I had worked in renovation since the age of 16," says Valentin. "developing a true passion for furniture making and designing."
While in France, Valentin met his now wife Cecily and moved to the UK to get married and start a family.
"When I first came to the UK in 2010, I was working as a joiner but was quickly developing my skills in fine woodworking.
Jonathan had studied graphic design at the Albert Jacquard High School in Belgium. Upon graduating he returned to France where he gained experience working for design agencies.
"I would come to England to help Val on his larger projects and found that I really loved working on furniture." Jonathan subsequently completed a cabinetmaking course in which he qualified with distinction.
The stage was set for the Chardome brothers to unite and launch their own company. In 2016 Jonathan moved to Cambridge and Chardome was born.
Valentin brings 17 years of experience as a luxury kitchen and furniture craftsman, but adds "I am extremely proud of our achievement and feel lucky to have a great team beside me on this journey."
Jonathan has not only many years of experience designing beautiful, traditional kitchens and furniture but also rich experience from beyond interiors.
As Valentin explains "Jonathan brings his signature precision and meticulousness to every project. It's a joy to watch him work."
Today, Chardome enjoys a reputation for elegant design and fine craftsmanship, creating classic rooms and high-quality fitted furniture, from kitchens to boot rooms; walk-in wardrobes to handmade dining tables.
"We have expanded from a single unit on a farm to working from four units and working all over the south of the UK and even back home in France," explains Valentin.
Chardome's reputation for high-quality bespoke kitchens has also resulted in projects for royalty and high-profile individuals and their families.
Chardome are a small team of kitchen and furniture craftsmen in Cambridge, which means you will always deal with the same people. The people with whom you discuss initial design ideas will be with you through the whole process - manufacturing, installation and aftercare.
"We produce a design and, if necessary, we tweak it until we've achieved what the client wants. That's the bit I really enjoy, making sure they get something they love. We see it through from beginning to end."
