Our Story

Chardome was founded on a passion for creating beautiful, bespoke furniture, combining exceptional craftsmanship with meticulous attention to detail. Our story began in 2011, when founder Valentin Chardome moved from France to England with his cabinetmaking skills, a determination to build something of his own, and just one van.

Soon after, his brother Jonathan joined him, and together they began building the business. By 2018, Chardome was operating from a small workshop in Saffron Walden, building a reputation for quality craftsmanship and a personal approach to every project. As the business grew, they moved to a larger workshop in Burwell in 2020. Ed joined the brothers in 2021 as an apprentice to complete his training, quickly becoming an important part of the business and subsequently taking on the role of director.

Today, Chardome is a dedicated team of 16, creating beautiful bespoke kitchens, fitted furniture and interiors. We work closely with architects and interior designers, as well as private clients, bringing together thoughtful design, skilled craftsmanship, and genuine care in how each piece is made. Our Burwell workshop and showroom are open to clients throughout the process, and many choose to visit and see their furniture take shape.

From initial design and technical development through manufacturing, finishing, and installation, our team handles every stage in-house and stays closely involved with every client along the way —from the first conversation through to long after the final fitting. While Chardome has grown considerably since those early days, the principles on which Valentin founded the business remain unchanged: a commitment to quality, pride in our work and a personal approach to everything we create.

KIND WORDS

Chardome provides a seamless service, from helping with design decisions to finishes; everything is made simple, easy, and fun! We loved the little extras the team suggested (e.g., our much-envied oven drawer dividers for baking trays). The attention to detail, beautiful joinery, and hand-painted finishing are exceptional.

Nothing was too much trouble, including our last-minute request for a dining table for 10-12 people to be designed, made, and delivered before Christmas!

- Clare & Noel

Our first bespoke experience and Chardome delivered an outstanding kitchen and an exceptional experience.

Their professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail set them apart from any company we’ve worked with before. Communication was excellent throughout, and the final result exceeded our expectations.

- Lalita & Jon

We are absolutely delighted — truly over the moon — with our new kitchen. From start to finish, our experience with Chardome has been nothing short of exceptional.
Chardome has built a fantastic company with an outstanding team. The meticulous attention to detail and the genuine care shown at every stage of the project was incredible — truly second to none — all delivered with remarkably little disruption to our home
